The aim of this book is to provide students of engineering mechanics with detailed solutions of a number of selected engineering mechanics problems. It was written on the demand of the students in our courses who try to understand given solutions from their books or to solve problems from scratch.
Often solutions in text books cannot be reproduced due to minor mistakes or lack of mathematical knowledge. Here we walk the reader step by step through the solutions given in all details. We thereby are trying to address students with different educational background and bridge the gap between undergraduate studies, advanced courses on mechanics and practical engineering problems. It is an easy read with plenty of illustrations which brings the student forward in applying theory to problems. This is the second volume of ‘Statics’ covering bearing forces, shear and longitudinal forces in beams as well as bending moments. Finally we cover bar forces in a plane truss.
This is a valuable supplement to a text book in any introductory mechanics course.
